Marshall Bruce Mathers III (born October 17, 1972), known professionally as Eminem (/ˌɛmɪˈnɛm/; often stylized as EMINƎM), is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer, record executive, film producer, and actor. He has frequently been cited as one of the greatest and most influential rappers of all time, and has been dubbed the "King of Hip Hop" and the "Rap God"[1][2]. In addition to his solo career, Eminem was formerly a member of hip hop group D12. He has also with fellow rapper Royce da 5'9"; the duo are collectively known as Bad Meets Evil. After releasing his debut album Infinite (1996) and extended play Slim Shady EP (1997), Eminem signed with Dr. Dre's record label Aftermath Entertainment. His sophomore album, The Slim Shady LP (1999), was a breakthrough hit that won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album[3] and contains the hit single "My Name Is". Subsequent albums The Marshall Mathers LP (2000) and The Eminem Show (2002) were global successes, with both being certified Diamond in the U.S. and winning Grammy Awards for Best Rap Album, making Eminem the first artist to win the award three consecutive times. The later album was also the best-selling of the year worldwide, and contains the hit single "Sing for the Moment". Eminem's fourth album, Encore (2004), was another commercial success, but failed to receive the amount of critical praise his previous records earned. After a 2005 tour, Eminem went on hiatus. He returned to the music industry with Relapse (2009) and Recovery (2010); both albums won Grammy Awards for Best Rap Album, while the latter became Eminem's second international best-selling album of the year. His eighth album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (2003), won two Grammy Awards, including Best Rap Album, expanding his record for the most wins in that category[3]. These were followed by Revival (2017) and Kamikaze (2018), the latter becoming the best-selling hip hop album of the year[2]. Read more here... References
