Gerald "Gerry" Rafferty (April 11, 1947-January 04, 2011) was a Scottish rock singer-songwriter known for solo hits "Baker Street", "Right Down the Line", and "Night Owl", as well as the Stealers Wheel hit "Stuck in the Middle with You". Rafferty was born in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland to a working class family. As a boy, he learned Scottish and Irish folk songs from his mother; later influences included The Beatles and Bob Dylan. In 1969, Rafferty joined folk-rock band The Humblebums. After the group disbanded in 1971, Gafferty recorded and released his debut solo album, Can I Have My Money Back? In 1972, Rafferty and fellow Scottish singer-songwriter Joe Egan formed Stealers Wheel and produced several hits, the most notable being "Stuck in the Middle with You" and "Star".
