"Gimme Some Lovin'" is a song recorded by The Spencer Davis Group. Written by band members Steve Winwood, Spencer Davis, and Muff Winwood, the single was conceived, arranged, and rehearsed in just half an hour. At the time, the group was pressured to release another hit, following the relative under-performance of single "When I Come Home". With a recording session imminent, The Spencer Davis Group's manager, Chris Blackwell, took them to a rehearsal room in London's Marquee Club, and ordered them to come up with a new song.
Upon its debut, song peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart and number seven on the US Billboard Hot 100. It can also be found on the Sing: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. In Sing, this song can be heard as Buster Moon rides his bicycle around the city.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
(Hey!)
Well my temperature's rising and my feet on the floor
Crazy people knocking 'cause they're wanting some more
Let me in, baby, I don't know what you got
But you better take it easy, this place is hot
[Chorus]
And I'm so glad we made it
So glad we made it
I want, gimme some-a lovin'
Gimme some-a lovin'
Gimme some-a lovin', every day
[Verse 2]
(Hey!)
Well, my head's a-spinning and I'm floating to sound
Too much is happening 'cause you're not around
It's been a hard day and nothing went too good
I'm gonna relax like-a everybody should
[Chorus]
And I'm so glad we made it
So glad we made it
I want you, gimme some-a lovin'
Gimme some-a lovin'
Gimme some-a lovin', everyday
[Verse 3]
(Hey!)
Well, I feel so good, everything is getting higher
You better take some time off 'cause the place is on fire
Better stop baby 'cause I have so much to do
We made it, baby, and it happened to you
And I'm so glad you made it, so glad you made it
You got to gimme some lovin' (gimme, gimme some lovin')
Gimme some lovin' (gimme, gimme some lovin')
Gimme some lovin' every day
[Outro]
And I'm so glad we made it
So glad we made it
(Gimme some a-lovin') Every day
(Gimme some a-lovin') Every night
(Gimme some a-lovin') Ooh-hoo!
(Gimme some-a lovin') Gimme some a-lovin' every day
(Gimme some a-lovin') Hey, hey, baby
(Gimme some a-lovin') Ooh-hoo
(Gimme some a-lovin'), Oh, every day
(Gimme some a-lovin'), Give your love
