Ashley Nicolette Frangipane (/ˌfrændʒɪˈpɑːni/[1];born September 29, 1994), known professionally as Halsey[2], is an American singer and songwriter. After gaining attention for music she released over social media, Haley was signed by record label Astralwerks in 2014 and released her debut EP, Room 93, later that year. In 2015, Halsey released her debut album Badlands, which was eventually certified Double Platinum. In addition, the album's singles "Colors" and "Gasoline" were certified Double Platinum as well. In 2016, Halsey featured on the Chainsmokers' single "Closer", which topped 10 countries' record charts. Halsey's sophomore album, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom (2017), was described by her as having more "radio-friendly" music than her previous work. It's singles "Now or Never" and "Bad at Love" charted in the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100, with the latter peaking in the top 5. Halsey's third studio album, Manic (2020), is her best selling album to date; it's lead single "Without Me" is likewise her most successful single to date. Her 2021 album If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power (2021) shifted to a darker industrial sound; Halsey described it as "The album [she] always wanted to make".
