John Anthony White (né Gillis; born July 09, 1975) is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. White is best known as the lead singer and guitarist of rock duo The White Stripes, but has also enjoyed consistent success in other bands and as a solo artist. White is widely credited as one of key artists in the revival of garage rock that occured during the 2000s. Over the course of his career, he has won twelve Grammy Awards. White began his music career moonlighting in several Detroit bands as a drummer. In 1997, he founded The White Stripes with fellow Detroit native and then-wife, Meg White. Their third album, White Blood Cells (2001), and its hit single "Fell in Love with a Girl" propelled them to international fame. This recognition allowed White to collaborate with notable artists such as Loretta Lynn and Bob Dylan[3]. In 2005, White founded rock band The Raconteurs with musician Brendan Benson, while in 2009 he founded rock supergroup The Dead Weather with Alison Mosshart of indie rock band The Kills. In 2008, White and Alicia Keys recorded "Another Way to Die", the theme for the James Bond film Quantum of Solace, making them the only duet to perform a Bond song. On April 24, 2012, White released his debut solo album, Blunderbuss, which contains the single "Love Interruption". His sophomore solo album, Lazaretto, was released on June 10, 2014, while his third album, Boarding House Reach, was released on March 23, 2018.
