"Just Dance" is a song by American singer Lady Gaga for her debut album The Fame, featuring singer Colby O'Donis on vocals. Co-written by Gaga, its produer RedOne, and Akon, the song was released on April 08, 2008 as the album's first single. Conceived by Gaga as a "happy record", "Just Dance" received generally positive reviews by critics for its anthemic sound. Upon release, "Just Dance" reached number one in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, Ireland, and the Netherlands. In addition, the single peaked in the top five in the Czech Republic, Hungary, New Zealand, Norway, Scotland, Spain, and Sweden. In the US in particular, "Just Dance" debuted at No. 76 on the Billboard Hot 100, then slowly rose up the chart before topping it in January 2009. "Just Dance" received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording, but lost to the Daft Punk song "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger (Alive 2007)[1]. In a variant of the TV spot Happy Holidays From Sing used for the 2020 NBC Minions , Gunter plugs his Christmas-themed dance remix of this song into an ice rink's sound system as he and other characters from Sing skate and dance (In the original TV spot, Gunter plugged in a remix of "Groove Is in the Heart" instead).
