Martin Karl Sandberg (ˈmaʈɪn ²san(d).bærj, ²sam-; born February 26, 1971), better known as Max Martin, is a Swedish songwriter, record producer and singer. He rose to prominence in the mid-1990s after releasing a string of major hits such as Britney Spears' "...Baby One More Time" (1999), The Backstreet Boys' "I Want It That Way" (1999), and NSYNC's "It's Gonna Be Me" (2000). Martin has written and co-written 22 US Billboard Hot 100 number-one hits (most of which he has also produced or co-produced), including Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" (2008) and "Roar" (2013), Maroon 5's "One More Night" (2012), Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" and "Blank Space" (both 2014), and the Weeknd's "Can't Feel My Face". Martin is the songwriter with the third-most number-one charting singles, behind only Paul McCartney (32) and John Lennon (26). As a producer, he has the second most Hot 100 number one singles, behind George Martin (23). In early 2013, Martin's single sales were tallied at over 135 million[3]. In 2015 he generated $54 million in income and $19 million in profits from his work; one year later, Martin's net worth was calculated at $260 million[4]. Martin has also won the ASCAP Songwriter of the Year award a record eleven times[5][6][7]. In 2014, Martin collaborated with Ariana Grande on her album My Everything, co-producing three songs, including the successful "Break Free".
