Onika Tanya Maraj (born December 08, 1982)[1][2], known by her stage name Nicki Minaj (mɪˈnɑːʒ), is a Trinidad and Tobago-born rapper, singer, songwriter, actress, and model[3]. At age five, Minaj moved from Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago to Queens, New York City. She first achieved public recognition with her mixtapes Playtime Is Over (2007), Sucka Free (2008), and Beam Me Up Scotty (2009). In August 2009, Minaj signed to Young Money Entertainment; her debut album, Pink Friday, was released on November 09, 2010. It reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was certified Triple Platinum by the RIAA[4]. Minaj's sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (2012), debuted at number one in several countries. Also in 2012, Minaj made her film debut in Ice Age: Continental Drift. In 2013, Minaj became a judge on the 12th season of American Idol. In 2014, she released her third album, The Pinkprint, and was featured in the film The Other Woman. Later, Minaj played a supporting role in Barbershop: The Next Cut (2016) and released her fourth album, Queen (2018). Minaj is known for the fast flow of her rapping, her use of alter egos, and her various accents, particularly British cockney[5]. Earlier in her career, she also utilized colorful costumes during her performances. Minaj has the most singles of any female artist that charted on the US Billboard Hot 100[6], four of which peaked in the top five of : "Super Bass" (2011), "Starships" (2012), "Bang Bang" and "Anaconda" (both in 2014).
