Pharrell Lanscilo Williams (born April 05, 1973) is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur, and fashion designer. Williams is one half of hip hop and R&B record production duo The Neptunes, along with Chad Hugo. The Neptunes produced hit singles for many notable music acts, such as Snoop Dogg[1]. He is also the lead vocalist of the band N*E*R*D, which also consists of Hugo and childhood friend Shay Haley. In 2003, Williams released his debut solo single, "Fronting'"; his debut solo album, In My Mind, followed three years later[2]. In March 2014, Williams released his sophomore studio album, Girl[3][4], which contains the commercially successful single "Happy".

Williams has earned ten Grammy Awards (two as part of The Neptunes) to date. He is also a two-time Academy Award nominee, receiving a 2014 Best Original Song nomination for "Happy" (which was featured in Illumination's Despicable Me 2) and a 2017 Best Picture nomination as one of the producers for Hidden Figures. Williams narrated Illumination's 2018 adaptation of The Grinch. Williams also co-wrote, produced, and provided background vocals for Ed Sheeran's hit single "Sing", which was used to promote the movie of the same name. He would later provide the voice of Alfonso for Sing 2.
