Pharrell Lanscilo Williams (born April 05, 1973) is an American record producer, rapper, singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, and fashion designer. Williams is one half of hip hop and R&B record production duo The Neptunes, along with Chad Hugo. The Neptunes produced hit singles for many notable music acts, such as Snoop Dogg[1]. He is also the lead vocalist of the band N*E*R*D, which also consists of Hugo and childhood friend Shay Haley. In 2003, Williams released his debut solo single, "Fronting'"; his debut solo album, In My Mind, followed three years later[2]. In March 2014, Williams released his sophomore studio album, Girl[3][4], which contains the commercially successful single "Happy". Williams has earned ten Grammy Awards (two as part of The Neptunes) to date. He is also a two-time Academy Award nominee, receiving a 2014 Best Original Song nomination for "Happy" (which was featured in Illumination's Despicable Me 2) and a 2017 Best Picture nomination as one of the producers for Hidden Figures. Williams narrated Illumination's 2018 adaptation of The Grinch. Williams also co-wrote, produced, and provided background vocals for Ed Sheeran's hit single "Sing", which was used to promote the movie of the same name.
