Sing Wiki
INFO

Sing: Thriller is a Halloween short-film inspired by the titular song of the same name by Michael Jackson. It premiered on Netflix by Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment.

Plot

Buster Moon's old friends from his home in Calatonia and new friends from Redshore City are among the crowd that come to the New Moon Theater to watch the Halloween play, GMO the Musical, in which Meena encounters singing zombie-like vegetable creatures, including one played by Gunter, and turned into a giant lemon by mad scientists Ash and Johnny. They sing Thriller all throughout the performance.

After the show, Buster's troupe invites him to Clay Calloway's Halloween party at his house, which Buster accepts. As he prepares to leave, he gets distracted by a news broadcast discussing a mysterious explosion at a laboratory, which resulted in a leaking of glowing pink-and-blue ooze. Buster then flinches as several pumpkins fall from a shelf, and one hits him on the head before Ash reminds him to come with them.

On their way to Clay's house in Big Daddy's truck, they are stopped by an officer who informs them that the road is closed due to the explosion and leak at the science lab. Ash asks if anyone is hurt, but the officer assures her everyone has been safely evacuated. When Buster asks about the flood of ooze that has been sectioned off in front of them, the officer knows nothing about it. As the troupe drives off, the officer steps in some of the ooze, and his eyes start glowing as he goes into a trance.

When the troupe arrives at the party, they find the place is well-decorated, but no one else is around, and unbeknownst to them, the ooze has begun spreading through the property. Ash excitedly rings Clay's doorbell, but he doesn't answer, and all the lights (and even the fire) suddenly go out, creating an uneasy atmosphere. Johnny and Gunter are convinced that it is just a prank, but when Ash looks through Clay's door's mail slot to try to find him, she is suddenly met with his glowing eyes. The troupe jumps back in shock, and everyone except Buster and Miss Crawly come into contact with the ooze.

The other party guests then come out, also in a zombie-like state with glowing eyes. Clay, Meena, Ash, Johnny, and Gunter become afflicted as well, and Buster and Miss Crawly watch in fear as everyone sings and dances to Thriller. The two run as their zombified friends and the guests begin to chase them. They manage to escape onto a boat and paddle away from the house. Buster, relieved, deems them safe until three giant tentacles suddenly come out of the water and prepare to slam down on the two.

These events are revealed to have just been a dream, as Buster wakes up screaming, back in the New Moon Theater. Miss Crawly says he must have hit his head, and asks if he is well enough to go to Clay's party. Happy to have woken up from his nightmare, Buster races to meet everyone else and go. However, as Miss Crawly turns off the lights, her eyes glow and she walks away in a trance as Ray, also with glowing eyes, appears giving an evil laugh before falling off of his jack-o-lantern, which is evident that the events at the party in the nightmare are likely to happen for real.
