Kaseem Dean (born September 13, 1978), known professionally as Swizz Beatz, is a New York record producer, DJ, entrepreneur, and art collector. Born and raised in the Bronx, Dean began his music career as a teenager after his stepfather and uncles provided him the necessary equipment. After relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, Dean began work at his uncles' record label, Ruff Ryders Entertainment; At the age of 17, he sold his first beat to rapper DMX, which became the successful single "Ruff Ryders' Anthem". In 1999, Dean founded the imprint Full Surface Records and released two albums under the label: the compilation Swizz Beatz Presents G.H.E.T.T.O. Stories (2002) and his debut studio album One Man Band Man (2008). He released his second studio album, Poison, in 2018. Dean is recognized for producing hit singles for many famous artists across a wide variety of genres. His production discography includes DMX's "Party Up (Up in Here)", Eve's "Gotta Man" and "Love Is Blind", Jay-Z's "Girl's Best Friend", Beyoncé's "Upgrade U", "Check on It", and "Ring the Alarm", Cassidy's "Hotel" and "I'm a Hustla", and Kanye West's "Ultralight Beam".
