Taron Egerton

Taron David Egerton (born 10 November 1989) is a Welsh actor and singer. He is known for his role as Dennis "Asbo" Severs in the British television series The Smoke and Gary "Eggsy" Unwin in Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kingsman: The Golden Circle. He appeared in the British drama film Testament of Youth, as Edward Brittain. He also played Mad Teddy in the film Legend, starring Tom Hardy, and starred as Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards in the film Eddie the Eagle. He has also provided the voices for El-Ahrairah in the 2018 miniseries Watership Down, and Moomintroll in the 2019-2020 TV series, 'Moominvalley. Other films include Billionaire Boys Club and Robin Hood, both released in 2018, and the 2019 biopic Rocketman, where he portrays Elton John.

Egerton provides the voice of Johnny in the North American release of Sing, the mini-movie Love At First Sight, and briefly in a McDonald's commercial. He reprised his role in Sing 2, the mini-movie For Gunter's Eyes Only, and a TV spot used to promote the release of the film.

Trivia

He is a huge fan of Stevie Wonder, and finally got to meet him during the world premiere of Sing.
- Despite him being a huge fan of Stevie Wonder, Taron admits he has a hard time trying to buy tickets to see Stevie perform live in concert.
Sing was Taron Egerton's first time working on an animated feature. Singing is something he loves, and is highly skilled at.
- The film markers were blown away when Taron auditioned for Sing. The film markers admitted they didn't know it was him, and they loved how he audition for the role of Johnny.
- He admitted he got a lot of feedback when fans were unsure if he could sing very well, which was something he didn't expect.
During the theater flooding scene, Taron Egerton's character, Johnny, saves everyone by pushing Meena out of the way of the only exit. In Kingsman: The Secret Service, Egerton's character Eggsy also saves several people when a room begins to flood by breaking through a glass window.
- The scene where Big Daddy makes his escape is reminiscent of the scene in Kingsman: The Secret Service, where Eggsy (Taron Egerton) tries to escape his stepfather's thugs by jumping from roof to roof.
Johnny sings a cover of Elton John's "I'm Still Standing". In addition to playing the singer in Rocketman, Taron Egerton starred alongside him in Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017).
