The Struts are a British[4] rock band initially founded in Derby, Derbyshire in 2012. The band currently consists of lead vocalist Luke Spiller, guitarist Adam Slack, bassist Jed Elliot, and drummer Gethin Davies. As a child, Spiller was inspired to become a musician by Michael Jackson, Queen, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, and Leonard Cohen, among others. As a teenager, he began playing in bands, and started singing at 16. In 2009, Spiller met Slack in Clevedon, and the two quickly bonded musically. The two would live in Derby and write and record music together for almost three years; during this time, mutual friends Jamie Binns and Rafe Thomas played bass and drums, respectively. In 2012, Binns and Thomas were replaced with Elliot and Davies, forming The Struts proper.
In 2014, The Struts released their debut album Everybody Wants. The album was modestly successful in the UK, reaching number 52 on their album charts. In early 2015, the band signed to Interscope Records and Polydor Records, and released their US debut, the EP Have You Heard. To support the EP, The Struts began a tour of the States that September. Performances of Everybody Wants' lead single, "Could Have Been Me", caused it to rise up the Billboard Alternative Airplay Chart.
