Universal Studios Inc. (also known as Universal Pictures, or simply Universal) is an American film studio, owned by Comcast through wholly-owned subsidiary NBCUniversal's Universal Filmed Entertainment Group division[3], and is one of Hollywood's "Big Five" film studios. Its studios are located in Universal City, while its corporate offices are located in New York City. Universal was founded in 1912 by Carl Laemmle, Mark Dintenfass, Charles O. Baumann, Adam Kessel, Pat Powers, William Swanson, David Horsley, Robert H. Cochrane, and Jules Brulatour. It is the oldest surviving film studio in the United States, and the fifth oldest in the world (after the French Gaumont Film Company and Pathé, Italian Titanus, and Danish Nordisk Film A/S).
