Wham! were a British pop duo founded in London in 1980[1][2]. It consisted of George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley, who met at Bushey Meds School and previously performed together in short-lived ska band The Executive. Wham! was one of the most commercially successful pop acts of the 1980's, selling over 30 million records worldwide during their six-year existence[3]. Their debut album, the funk and soul influenced Fantastic (1983), topped the UK album charts for two weeks, but was only a modest success in the US[4].

Wham!'s sophomore album, Make It Big (1984), was a worldwide hit, peaking at No. 1 on both UK and US album charts. It's three singles ("Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go", "Everything She Wants", and "Careless Whisper") topped the US Billboard Hot 100. In March 1985, Wham! undertook a lengthy world tour, including a 10-day visit to China, the first by a Western pop group.
